Reading Buddies is a summer enrichment program for children entering 1st through 6th grade which provides a safe, nurturing atmosphere with intentional mentoring, crafts and other enrichment (such as a cooking class in 2015), as well as camp-style fun.
Since building community is a part of our mission, the program also includes meals that gather the children with the adult leaders in order to feed the mind and body while building relationships together.
Reading Buddies 2017
This summer program is designed to enrich children’s reading skills in a camp-like setting. Activities include reading enrichment through various books, outdoor play, and arts and crafts. All activities are age appropriate and designed for children to have fun and socialize with each other while learning. Breakfast and lunch are provided for all participants. Reading Buddies is open to all children, from entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. The program runs from 8:45 am to 1:15 pm on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays, during the weeks beginning July 10, July 17, July 31, and Aug. 7. Interested in volunteering for this program? Please contact the lead volunteer Rochelle New at 267/253-5778 THANK YOU!
Nutrition programs are available in mini-lessons (through Einstein’s A Better Health network) and multi-session classes (through Oldways’ A Taste of African Heritage program).
