September 2024 Newsletter

Food insecurity continues to increase throughout the city, and we are bearing witness to it among our Northeast Philadelphia households. To meet these developments, Feast of Justice has been revising its programs so that we can connect with a larger number of unique families. By extending our reach, we are touching more lives and broadening our impact across the whole local community.

Expanded programs at both distribution locations

This past fiscal year, Feast of Justice welcomed families for 23,000 visits to our pantry. We distributed almost 920,000 pounds of food, of which 66% were fresh produce or frozen foods. As we grow, we have also been developing services offered at our Northeast Services Hub location, such as additional distribution days and walk-up times. This expanded availability has enabled us to now serve over 80 families each week at this site.

It takes invaluable volunteer labor, staff coordination, and funding to make the incredible impact that these numbers illustrate.
Your advocacy and support helps us bolster this impact.
As our community's needs evolve, we remain committed to connecting our guests to resources they need. Social service organizations have been tabling during our food distributions to inform guests about their services, and continue to partner with us to hold programming for our guests. For instance, did you know that we spent this summer collaborating with The Food Trust as they hold their farmer’s market at the Northeast Services Hub? We connected our guests to accessing fresh farm produce and nutrition classes available through the farmer’s markets.
By working with our partners to provide food and more-than-food services, we make strides towards our mission: addressing hunger, meeting needs, and inspiring hope for abundant justice.
